Dance Umbrella continues unabated this week, however the standout show is easily the latest Royal Ballet triple bill. Birmingham Royal Ballet make their eagerly awaited return next week - and leading integrated dance company Candoco Dance Company celebrate their 20th anniversary in style at the end of this week.

Highlights

Royal Ballet: Limen / Marguerite & Armand / Requiem, ongoing until 20 October
Royal Opera House

The first triple bill of Monica Mason's final year as Director of the Royal Ballet opened on Saturday, and and has received a large number of rave reviews. Specifically, the rave reviews are for Ashton's Marguerite & Armand - originally created for Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev, and performed sublimely by Sergei Polunin and Tamara Rojo, and for Kenneth Macmillan's Requiem, a haunting tribute to fellow choreographer and friend John Cranko. The triple bill opens with Wayne McGregor's Limen, which received rather more muted reviews.

Tickets are limited, with non-amphi tickets only available as returns or day seats, but definitely try to catch this - and with Zenaida Yanowsky and Federico Bonelli performing Marguerite & Armand in this week's performances, what better excuse to see it twice?

Candoco Dance Company, 14 & 15 October
Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre

Candoco Dance Company, the UK's leading integrated dance company, celebrates its 20th anniversary in association with Dance Umbrella with this special programme with commissions from its past (Tricia Brown Company), present (Rachid Ouramdane) and future (Matthias Sperling).

Birmingham Royal Ballet: 'Autumn Glory', 18 & 19 October
Sadler's Wells

Birmingham Royal Ballet return to Sadler's Wells with Fille mal gardée (20 - 22 October; strictly for the classical ballet fans) and Autumn Glory, a triple bill for those of us who prefer our dance to be more modern. The programme includes Ninette de Valois's highly stylised Checkmate, one of Frederick Ashton's best-loved works, Symphonic Variations, and the truly hilarious Pineapple Poll by John Cranko.

Worth Seeing

Rambert's Season of New Choreography, 12 October
The Place

Tonight is the second and final performance of Rambert's latest showcase of its dancers' own choreography, presenting new works by Kirill Burlov, Otis-Cameron Carr, Malgorzata Dzierzon, Jonathan Goddard and Gemma Nixon.

Jonathan Goddard's partnership with Gemma Nixon has been creating very exciting new works, so it's worth going just to see their latest piece and a new solo by Jonathan Goddard; meanwhile, Malgorzata Dzierzon's piece was the highlight of last year's showcase, and those who saw Kirill Burlov's solo for Royal Ballet's Edward Watson, performed at Resolution! at the start of this year, will never ever ever be able to forget That Costume. Feedback from last night's performance were mostly very positive, but didn't give anything away.
