Flexa Dance Theatre is proud of being formed of a multicultural cast from various backgrounds. The initiative of this group arises from the need for an environment where they are able to express, explore and exchange creative ideas and challenges and collaborate with various artists. The company aims to create and perform alive and inquisitive work with alternating artists in constant exchange of new ideas.

Leyla Rees is a London based contemporary dancer and aerialist. She is the fouder of Leaf dance. She has a BPA honours from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and is currently working on independent projects. She is especially interested in creating work that encourage collaboration acros the various art forms.

Slanjayvah Danza is a Dance Theatre Company, formed in 2004 producing professional, youth and community dance/mixed art form works, as well as providing educational dance workshops for all age groups and learning abilities. With a growing reputation for closing the gap between performers and the audience. The choreographies of Jenni Wren and Slanjayvah Danza are layered into complex reflections of the human psyche. The work is peppered with diverse alternative artistic practices, complementary to dance, that help to convey narratives that any audience can relate to. The Company believes that diversity and eclecticism are key to produing unique and innovative work, for example; the fusion of a variety of dance styles such as Contemporary, Contact, Flamenco and Tango, employs tools and skills beyond those of an average Dancer.

Sophia was born in Yorkshire and trained with Louise Browne as a York Scholar, Dawn Staples and Northern Ballet School. Her Stage credits include Mary in The Pyjama Game; Meg & Ballet Girl in Phantom of the Opera-West End Apache dancer in Joseph-West-End; Blue Fairy and Fox in Pinocchio at ROH2-Will Tuckett; Princess in The Red Balloon at ROH2-Aletta Collins.

Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures credits include- Marshmallow and Cupid in Nutcracker!, Moth Maiden,French Princess and Girlfriend in his 10th Anniversary Swan Lake and creating the role of Bunny Munroe in the original cast of Edward Scissorhands; Opera credits for ENO include Kismet, Mikado and Merry Widow. Film credits include Phantom of the Opera and Young Victoria.

Sophia has loved revisiting Callas again since 2008 and is proud to have such a wonderful and supportive cast working with her..
