Jarkko Lehmus was born in Finland and trained at the Finnish National Ballet School, Helsinki and Millennium Dance 2000 in London.

He has worked as a freelancer with the National Youth Dance Company, Arc Dance Company, David Hughes Dance Company, Errol White Dance, Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre and as a soloist with Scottish Ballet creating and dancing roles in the works of Ashley Page, Richard Alston, Krzysztof Pastor, Diana Loosmore, Siobhan Davies, Stephen Petronio, William Forsythe and Frederick Ashton.

He has also performed at The Royal Opera House in Turandot and Macbeth and worked on commercial projects in the UK including appearances at The Record of the Year Awards and The Brit Awards.

Jarkko received a Herald Angel Award for excellence in his performance of Ashley Page works during Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2005.

Taciturn

Taciturn formed in 2006 to enable the dancers to share skills and ideas, as well as to showcase the talents of local artists. Their aim is to create vibrant and diverse works that will have wide appeal and inspire young dancers. 

Taciturn have performed at the Leap Festival in Liverpool, The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester and as part of the British Dance Edition Fringe event 2008, organised by local artists. Following their three acclaimed performances at Cloud Dance Festival over the past two years, we have invited them to perform all three works at this festival.

Under the Artistic Direction of Joss Arnott, this newly-formed company is beginning to establish itself into the contemporary dance scene.

The company will be premiering their new work threshold for Cloud Dance Festival.

Since showcasing its first work in LABAN's Bonnie Bird Theatre in 2009 the company has grown technically and artistically. The company look forward to future performances and its ongoing development.

Originally from Cornwall, James began his choreographic career during his training at London Contemporary Dance School where three of his works (Drift, Threads and Familiar Tones) were toured both nationally and internationally with LC3 (London Contemporary Dance Schools 3rd year touring company).

Since graduating from LCDS James has received numerous commissions including remaking his work Drift for Scottish Dance Theatre for touring throughout 2010/11. James was also the Sadlers Wells, East London Dance and London Youth Dance Blueprint Bursary winner. With this he created "Forest" for touring throughout London.
