|Kayley Hughes and Laura Newman are recent graduates of dance from
Liverpool John Moores University. Each studied within the area of
Choreography and Performance and became members of JMUpstart Dance
Company. Both Laura and Kay are interested within all aspects of
performance and creating works that draw upon internal and external
physicality’s. Kay and Laura have actively been involved in many site
specific performances and are enthusiastic towards fusing and merging
other disciplines within dance.
Most recently, both performers have appeared within the ReGen 08 exhibiton, performing in Live Art Works. In forming KoLective, Kay and Laura have worked with various artists, performed in various spaces and offered a mixture of workshops in the Liverpool area. Kolective first performed within the Cream exhibition (Aug 2007) at Site gallery and went on to participate in the Toxteth Festival, showcasing a mixture of contemporary works.
This work is based upon sensations and the idea of reactions to our bodies and everything that is experienced through moving. It is a work that challenges the performers both mentally and physically in propelling the self into a ‘performance experience’. It is an exploration between two people of the development and boundless experiment of moving, reacting, feeling, sensing and improvising; creating a visual shifting artifact…dance.
