DSC7373Anthony Lo-Giudice is preparing for his second performance at Cloud Dance Festival, with an extract of his Royal Northern Sinfonia commission from earlier this year, Distant Light. His first performance was in July 2011 under the name Exquisite Corpse | Dance Theatre, and his work has certainly gone from strength to strength since then, with commissions by Dance City, the Royal Northern Sinfonia and a thriving practice in Italy and the Czech Republic. Lo-Giudice Dance will be performing on Friday 15 November, and further details can be found here.

I briefly caught up with him and one of his dancers, Molly Hodkinson, in rehearsal at Dance City, who'd very kindly provided us with the use of the theatre. While they've been busy with different projects - among other things, Anthony is currently undertaking youth and community dance training at the Royal Opera House - and preparing for their first Resolution! performance early next year, the whole company decided that they'd like to revisit Distant Light, and welcomed the opportunity to rework it, bringing fresh insights to the piece. Although it won't replicate the experience of performing at The Sage Gateshead in front of a full orchestra, they're relishing the chance to continue developing the work.

As with our other features, a trailer and interview will follow, but in the meantime, here are some photos of Anthony working with Molly - and some spectacular photos of Molly's hair!
