 Werkstart |
Werkstart first came together as a project organized in 2004, creating
the performance Ubersetzen Uber-setzen, a dance and music collaboration.
Werkstart is not formed as a company, but a sort of collective or
organization of people created in order to nurture a creative
environment for artistic dialogue, sharing of knowledge, investigation
of new ideas and partnerships. Within Werkstart there are several
ongoing forms of activities, such as, producing performance, teaching
and exploring movement and dance with young and elderly in different
contexts.

Werkstart is also organizing laboratories as well as aiming to function as a supportive network and facilitator for other emerging artists and creators. The members are not always working together but can be involved in different productions alongside each other.
Vera Tussing and Petra Söör has previously created together the piece Kaisha, performed e.g. in the 8th International Solo Dance Theatre Festival in Stuttgart 2004. Individually they are working both as performers and creators in different constellations and contexts but both are at the moment keen to develop their joint engagement within Werkstart.
After All, I Too Am You
After All, I Too Am You takes as its starting point the story An Unknown Friend by the early 20th Century, Russian writer Ivan Bunin. Structured around a series of letters sent by a woman to an author whose work has touched her, the piece explores the ways in which we come to invent and appropriate other people in our
imaginations, and how we all reach out to someone, no matter how remote, or unknown, they are.
Choreographed & performed by: Choreographer: Vera Tussing and Petra Söör
