Originally from Cornwall, James began his choreographic career during his training at London Contemporary Dance School where three of his works (Drift, Threads and Familiar Tones) were toured both nationally and internationally with LC3 (London Contemporary Dance Schools 3rd year touring company).

Since graduating from LCDS James has received numerous commissions including remaking his work Drift for Scottish Dance Theatre for touring throughout 2010/11. James was also the Sadlers Wells, East London Dance and London Youth Dance Blueprint Bursary winner. With this he created "Forest" for touring throughout London.

The Shortest Day

Based around the psychological effects on people when they know their time is limited. The Shortest Day places 4 performers in a desperate struggle to survive. To exhaust themselves, force a recovery, then exhaust themselves again. To hurt themselves and each other in an attempt to find hope in a hopeless world. The piece also draws inspiration from the Mayan apocalypse theory, the alignment of the solar system and the crust displacement theory.
