Cloud Dance Festival | Lîla Dance
Here, Still Here, Still
Here, Still Here, Still captures a woman who is looking back over recent events, and she has arrived alone, and is alone still.
The work has been developed through giving the soloist explorative experiences with several dance partners, and then taking the partners away. The performer is left with emotional and muscular memories of what was and the nuances that the presence of absence has for the performer frames her situation. We join her at a place where she is able to contemplate her “past” from her present circumstance.
Choreography: Abi Mortimer and Carrie Whitaker
Performer: Carrie Whitaker
Score: Doug Evans
Here, Still Here, Still was granted research time as part of Choreodrome. With Special Thanks to The Place and The University of Chichester.

Reviews for Tracker at Resolution! 2009:
"There was much impressive choreographic craft in Abi Mortimer's Tracker for Lila Dance. A trio of dancers were propelled by an inner dynamic that ebbed and flowed through changes of pace and personnel and never missed a beat." - Keith Watson
"With coordinating costumes of cobalt blue, gold and wine, Lîla Dance's Tracker was a sumptuous feast for the eyes. Composed of two women and a man, the trio performed capoeira-like challenges in slow motion, rolling effortlessly from the floor as if gravity had dissolved into the smoke that flanked the stage. ... The concluding duet, framed by a square of bright light, roused the audience with its seamless yet shocking movement." - Kat Richter
